An incident involving two cars. which appeared to have collided with each other, sparked an emergency response which closed a Tavistock petrol station.

Fire, ambulance and police units attended Morrisons supermarket fuel forecourt yesterday morning, Saturday, September 26. The air ambulance flew overhead, but did not land as the situation was soon declared safe.

The petrol station was closed for several hours while fire crews made the cars safe from causing a fire hazard to the pumps and fuel storage tanks and other cars. It is believed one person was freed after becoming trapped in one of the two cars involved in the collision.

The bonnets of the two cars were opened to disconnect the engine batteries to reduce the risk of sparks igniting ny spilled fuel and fumes.
