Tavistock Town U14s 8
Elm United U14s 1
AN excellent all round team performance against the ten men of Elm saw Tavistock cruise to victory in style.
An early goal settled nerves with Coulston scoring from a Hammond knock -on following one of many piercing runs from Lyle.
Tavistock continued to attack and despite some opportunities going begging went two up with a goal from Doyle after neat interplay between Coulston and Lyle.
With Webber generally untroubled, the defence remained solid and McCall and Hammond controlled midfield.
Tavistock's open, attacking football soon resulted in more goals. Lyle got onto the scoresheet after a great through-ball by McCall followed by Doyle scoring his second after Hammond had won a loose ball. Hammond was involved in the fifth goal as he passed to Coulston who fired from the edge of the box, 5-0.
Despite a courageous performance Elm could not hold back the tide and early in the second half Lyle latched on to a Smurden pass to chip the keeper. Following a cross from left back Johnson, Coulston secured his hat-trick.
Fazakerly came on as substitute as Elm continued to battle in vain. McCall made a mazy run through the Elm defence, resulting in another corner.
Elm gained a consolation goal towards the end.

AFC Plympton 3
Tavistock Town FC 3
TAVISTOCK went into this game attacking strongly, but, the Plympton defence was difficult to breach.
But during a Tavistock prolonged attack Nathan Alford slipped through to force the ball home to give Tavistock the lead.
This did not last long as within minutes Plympton equalised then a few minutes later took the lead when the Tavistock defence got into a bit of a muddle.
This spurred Tavistock to greater effort which was rewarded with a well taken equaliser by Josh Robins.
The game was heading for half-time all square when Plympton were awarded a penalty which they converted.
The second half started with Tavistock attacking strongly and more in control. But their efforts to score were thwarted by a stout Plympton defence who saved several goal attempts off their line.
It looked as though Tavistock were doomed to lose, despite their superiority, until Robert Wearing got the ball and made a skilful and strong run before lashing a super shot into the far corner of the net to bring it all square.

Tavistock Town FC 7
AFC Southway 0
DUE to AFC Southway's lowly position in the league Tavistock went into this game with some degree of complacency despite their manager's warning.
For much of the early part of the first half it was difficult to ascertain who was the lowest in the league. Southway played some good football and had Tavistock on the back foot.
Tavistock were lucky to go into the lead after 13 minutes when a Southway defender mis-kicked the ball into his own net.
Despite this piece of luck Tavistock were unable fully to exert control over the opposition and were often having to defend desperately to maintain their lead.
As is often said, football is a game of two halves and so it turned out to be in this match. From the outset Tavistock started strongly and began to play the standard of football of which they are capable. Southway had to defend desperately.
Tavistock increased their lead after four minutes with a well taken goal from Rob Wearing which was followed two minutes later with one from Joel Blatchford then a hat-trick by Josh Robins. The final goal was by Chris Hoare.
Man of the match: Josh Robins. Manager's award: Joel Blatchford.
