SOMERSET County held their centenary year gala at Millfield on Sunday. Competing were teams from Cornwall, Devon, Gloucester, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Devon County came third overall in the gala and Kelly College had eleven swimmers representing their county.

Jack Cockerton 100m breaststroke (1.13.71) and 200m individual medley (2.25.51) produced excellent swims to gain two first places for Devon in the boys' 13/14years age group.

Matthew Henry, boys' 11/12 years, gained a first in the 200m individual medley (2.41.49) and a second place in the 100m freestyle (1.05.73). Russell Page-Dove, 17/over, was just beaten into second place in the 100m freestyle (55.81).

Rachel Banfield, girls' 17years/over, came second in the 200m individual medley(2.31.39) and third in the 100m backstroke (1.08.74).

Elaine Reyes also secured a third place in the girls' 15/16years 100m freestyle (1.03.82).

Every swimmer taking part was presented, by the president of Somerset ASA, with a Somerset centenary mug. Special medals were presented to the winners of the individual events.

Other swimmers representing Devon from Kelly College were Sarah Reader, Jack Williams, Jonathan Wills, Saul Rogers, Whitney Bowrin and Jacqui Couch.
