IT was a double delight for the young swimmers representing Okehampton Otters Swimming Club.

Following last week?s success at Ilminster, the club travelled to compete against Honiton as hosts, Ilminster, Dawlish and Sidmouth swimming clubs.

Again, it was consistent scoring from all the swimmers that provided the outright win for the second week running. Out of the 57 there were 19 firsts, 17 seconds and five third places.

Triple race winners came from the much improved John Radnor and the reliable Jenny Rice. They won the individual medley, freestyle and fly events.

Rebecca Rowe swam to a Devon time in the 14/u 50m free and backed that up with a victory in the backstroke. She also contributed to the winning medley relay team of Vicky Medlyn, Imogen MacCullock and Natalie Bowles in a new age group best time.

Scarlett Geering, Charlotte Rowe, Michael Aylen, Matt Westlake and Tom Bradley all came away with a win apiece.

The boys 12/u and 14/u medley and freestyle relay teams won four more events. These were Matt Westlake, Matt.O?Neil, Tom Bradley, John Radnor (12/u) and Sam Bradley, Joe Rice, Luke Wonnacott, Paul Lawrence (14/u).

Lastly, the 8x25m mixed canon relay team stormed to victory in the final race of the evening.

In the second places Vicky Medlyn gained two, with one being a Devon time in the im. Paul Lawrence and Charlotte Rowe had two each to be the pick of the bunch.

The effort resulted in 16 personal best times being swum. Amelia Allen x 2 (- 5 seconds off I.m.), Michael Aylen , Gavin Best, Scarlett Geering x 2 , Paul Lawrence x 2 (- 15 off I.m.) , Vicky Medlyn (-3 off I.m.) , Charlotte Radnor (- 4 off I.m.), John Radnor, Charlotte Rowe, Rebecca Rowe, Matthew Webber x 2 (-18 off I.m.) and Matthew Westlake.

With the vocal support of the travelling parents, the end result put the Otters 21 points clear of their nearest rivals to record a remarkable eight days for the club.

The win meant that again the coaching staff of head coach Nigel West and assistants Keith Webber and Robert Aubry went for a cool down in the pool - with the whole squad giving a helping hand in the process.

Nigel said the squad have been working hard and the result showed the effort had started to pay off in competition.

?I have been with the club from the start, the period we are going through at the moment is one I will remember for a long time. I am proud of all the swimmers who have swum recently.?

This week sees the club in action at Tavistock - any support will be welcome.
