YEAR 7 students at Callington Community College celebrated achieving 100% attendance in their first year at secondary school with a presentation from acting principal Mrs Kathy Hocking.

The students were joined by their head of year, Mrs Penny Bagshaw, assistant head of year, Mrs Karen Blackmore, and education welfare manager Miss Lisa Thomas.

At the start of the academic year in September 2015, all Year 7 students attended an assembly where an attendance challenge was launched. Students achieving 100% attendance each term have been recognised for their achievement throughout the year. However, to achieve a perfect attendance record deserved special recognition.

Miss Thomas said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for these students. Moving up from primary school is a significant transition for children. Attending the college everyday has enabled them to not only have the opportunity to get the most out of their learning, but has ensured they have not missed an opportunity to get fully involved in all aspects of college life.

‘We are really proud of them and hope they will maintain an excellent attendance record next year.’
