As students at Tavistock College celebrated their GCSE results today, this was what associate principal Tristan Forster had to say:

’It has been fantastic to share this day and these results with the students, staff and parents here at the college today.

’After the trials and tribulations that this year group have been through over arguably the most important two years of their education, it has been amazing to share the successes with our young people.

’Students from across the ability spectrum and from all subject areas have had great success, exceeding their target grades and enabling them to progress to their next level of study.

’We will of course welcome many of these students back in a few weeks to start their sixth form journey with us, but for the few that are moving on we wish them the very best on their chosen futures.

The rigour and assessment that these young people have been through to attain these grades has been just as intense and stressful as any other year, if not more so, but the way they have approached all the challenges and changes put in front of them has made all at the college very proud.

’At a time where so many social support structures were taken away from our young people, these successes are down to the entire support network that these young people have, teachers, tutors, friends and families all play their part.

’The continued improvement in results that the college is seeing is down to the hard work and dedication of all involved at the college and within the community as a whole.’
