STUDENTS at Callington College received high results last week with 16 students scoring a grade 9 in one of more subjects.

In the new system for grading GCSEs, 9 is the highest grade possible. Individual successes included Holly, Eva, Grace, Rosie and Joe.

Kevin Dyke, interim principal, said: ‘Congratulations to all of our students, schools are about so much more than exams, and these results reflect five years of determination and commitment to learning. Well done to everyone involved. Our achievements are a real team effort and should be enjoyed by all of our community.’

Assistant principal Charlotte Campbell said: ‘We have had the pleasure of seeing each student grow and develop personally during their time at Callington Community College. We are very proud of each and every one of them.

‘We would also like to thank all of our staff in providing our students with teaching delivered with passion and dedication in order to prepare our students effectively for the challenge of GCSEs and just as importantly to our parents for their continuous support of the college.’

Whilst acknowledging the achievements of those who achieve the highest grades academically is important, it is important for the school and the community to congratulate consistent progress — notable progress was by Charles, Elizabeth, Katie, Leah and Tilly.

Miss Campbell added: ‘These achievements allow our students to follow the path of their choice, whether that be into further education, apprenticeships or other vocational training. Even more impressive is the fact these results come on the back of our super A-level outcomes last week — we are so proud of all involved and look forward to many of our students joining our sixth form and will continue to support them through their A-level programmes.

‘Our students have worked with great determination and focus in order to achieve these fantastic outcomes.’
