PRINCIPAL of Callington Community College, Sean Morris has announced that he intends to resign his position and retire from teaching at the end of this term.

Mr Morris, who joined the school as principal in 2014, has cited both personal and professional reasons for his decision.

Callington Community College is currently in special measures and will join Ivybridge Community College in a multi-academy trust from September 2016.

In a letter to parents, Chris Boarland, chair of the governing board for Callington Community College said: 'I do appreciate that you may feel that this will bring yet further disruption to the college at an already difficult time, I would therefore like to reassure you that we will be working expeditiously to identify and appoint a new college principal in time for the start of the new school year. In the meantime, I have every confidence in the strength and depth of leadership of Sean Morris and his team and that they will help make this transition as seamless as possible.’
