THE Product Design Department at Mount Kelly has won a place into a national final with its designs — one of only two schools in the South West.

The school entered two Year 9 teams into the Go4SET (Go 4 Science Engineering and Technology) scheme and following a 12 week programme of study and working closely with two Babcock graduate engineers, the pupils recently presented their research, design proposals, architectural models and feasibility reports for two new ‘Eco-Hotels’ at the Go4SET Assessment Day at Plymouth University.

The team not only won the Pupils Choice Award Cup (voted by all the pupils at the event to be the best project at the event) but has gained a place in the Go4SET National Final in Birmingham next March.

Mount Kelly along with Devonport High School for Boys will be the only two schools from the South West of England represented in the final.
