A TAVISTOCK College student pulled in an astonishing medal haul competing in a national sports contest.
Wheelchair athlete Ed Larkin, 12, brought home five medals after overcoming tough competition at the National Junior Games 2010 in Stoke Mandeville.
Ed, pictured right, said: 'I won a bronze in fencing, silver in table tennis and gold in the 100 metres, zone hockey and javelin. It was great as I haven't competed this seriously before.
'I'm probably most proud of my bronze because I was against an 18-year-old who I only lost to by two points and so many people entered.'
Complementing his outstanding individual performances, Ed was selected as goalkeeper for his zone hockey team. The side won every match bar one, which they drew, earning the gold medal in the process.
Ed is also a keen tennis player and receives professional coaching each fortnight.
'They say I'm getting good so I think maybe when I'm older I'd like to go on to compete on a higher stage,' he added.
Acting principal Helen Salmon said Ed was a credit to the college. 'His medal haul at the National Junior Games is impressive and he is a talented all rounder,' she added.
The National Junior Games is an annual event for up to 300 young people with disabilities.
Great Britain's powerlifting gold medallist Emma Brown and retired wheelchair racer Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson took part in the games before developing careers as athletes at the highest level.
