Okehampton Columbines 2 Mannamead ll 5 OKEHAMPTON Columbines ladies? hockey team entered this match determined to win in order to secure their place in the league. An easy but good goal in the first few minutes by Jo Moppett bolstered confidence. This was a little dented when Mannamead scored a slightly scrappy goal in return. This was followed by another similar and then a third. Okehampton fought hard but despite many strong attacking moves seemed unable to score. Three strong strikes at goal hit the post and several just missed the goalmouth. Jo Moppett and Jo Stephens made several impressive runs through all defenders but there was always something which stopped the ball going into the net. For most of the second half the play went up and down the pitch pretty evenly with no goals until Mannamead scored again off a short corner. Okehampton followed this up with a second goal; a goal which made it all look easy when captain Jo Stephens slid the ball past the goalie. This week Okehampton are away at Bodmin.
