RUMMAGE through those attics and dust off those celebration mugs — coronation memorabilia is wanted to make a Golden Jubilee exhibition to remember at the Okehampton Museum of Dartmoor Life next month.
Elizabeth De Tisi of the Museum said the exhibition is intended to be as 'people based' as possible.
She said: 'What we want to do is ask anyone that has any memories or memorabilia of the coronation to contact us.
'People might remember, or have, the hat their mother wore, they might have pictures of themselves at a street party — mugs, newspaper clippings, anything like that.'
Elizabeth pointed out that the coronation was held not long after the end of World War II — rationing was still in force and the museum would like to hear how this might have restricted celebrations, in terms of what people were able to eat at their street parties, or what they could wear.
The exhibition is being prepared now and will go on show at the end of the month.
Anyone who can help, whether recounting their memories or loaning memorabilia, is asked to call the Museum of Dartmoor Life on 01837 52295.
