PEOPLE living in a West Devon parish are being invited to a 'drop-in' event where they can discuss the recent flooding which affected their community.
It has been organised by West Devon Borough Council and is a chance for residents in the parish of Buckland Monachorum to raise their concerns and explain the problems they encountered.
The surgery takes place on Wednesday, December 19 from 6pm to 8pm at Milton Combe Village Hall.
Several properties in the area were flooded last month when West Devon was hit by heavy rain.
The borough council is particularly keen to hear from those residents directly affected, including details of what happened during the flood, how much damage was inflicted and what they think may have caused the flooding.
The event is also open to residents who were not flooded but have concerns about the possibility of flooding.
Residents who attend the surgery are encouraged to bring along any photographs, video clips or notes about the recent flooding.
It is hoped the information gathered will help the local community to become more flood-aware and prepare for any future incidents.
Leader of West Devon Borough Council and county councillor for the area Cllr Philip Sanders said: 'The possibility of being flooded is a constant source of worry for people living in vulnerable locations and the consequences of your property being flooded are extremely unpleasant.
'I am delighted that the borough council and the relevant partner organisations are working together with the residents to look for suitable ways of preventing future flooding or at least minimising the impact in the event that it occurs."
