THE driver of a car which overturned at Tongue End near Sticklepath in the early hours of Sunday morning fled the scene, despite sustaining injuries. Firefighters from Okehampton arrived at the scene shortly after 2.30am to find the vehicle on its roof. They made the vehicle safe. The night before, the crew had been called to Brightley Cross, where another car had turned over. One fire appliance from Okehampton attended the scene at around 1.30am and made the vehicle safe. On Friday afternoon, firefighters were called out to two car fires on the A30. Minor damage was caused to a car which caught fire at Woodleigh Junction at around 2.30pm. Firecrews from Okehampton and Exeter attended and used hose reels to quell the blaze. Two appliances from Okehampton were called to a car fire at Drews Cottage around an hour later.
