IVYBRIDGE won the toss and elected to bat first. After a couple of early losses, Holcombe and Kendrick started to find the gaps and progress at a useful run rate. Kendrick was out for 60 well caught by Mansfield in the deep.

With 10 overs to go, Whitchurch could have pegged back the home side, but some poor bowling enabled the Bridgers to declare on 242 for 6, shortly after Holcombe had scored his maiden league hundred.

Woodrow and Mansfield batted sensibly, to give Whitchurch a good basis of their reply. 95 had been added when Mansfield played all round a straight ball for 52. Woodrow following in the next over for 39.

A useful partnership between Hodge (39) and Mitchell kept Whitchurch in the hunt. As the run rate neared 10 an over Whitchurch began to lose wickets, but were still in there fighting with 30 required of the last 3.

In the gloom, Stuckey (3-65) made a couple of breakthroughs, leaving Whitchurch to block out the final 4 balls for a draw with a score of 230 for 9.

Whitchurch complete their league programme next week away at Chelston (match being played at Ipplepen).
