CHILDREN at Whitchurch Pre-school took part in a variety of activities recently in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

They listened to stories telling how the years were named and learned that 2012 is the year of the dragon. The children also made lanterns, dragon puppets and masks, ate a variety of Chinese food, learned to count in Chinese and took part in dragon dancing and music making.

A highlight was a Chinese New Year music and dance session led by Mel Crosher of Hullabaloo music.
