THE Sticklepath Horseshoe race on Saturday was won by Gregory Stewart, who travelled to Devon from Nottingham. He beat local reigning champion Kevin Hagley, to win in a time of just under 1 hour 18 minutes.
Third overall was Nick Kirk, who travelled to the event from Sheffield. First lady was Marianne Course, a local from Moretonhampstead.
Thanks go to the course marshals John Padfield, Mike Savage, Roy Crocker, Steve Compton and Tim Butler and thanks also for the prizes for the event that were sponsored by the Taw River Inn.
The event has been running now for about ten years and winner Gregory gets his name on a recently acquired trophy that he will retain until next year?s competition.

THE third Sourton Tor running race was contested on Sunday with Chudleigh based Kevin Hagley retaining his name as reigning champion on the John Hockridge Challenge Trophy in a winning time of 11 minutes and 25 seconds from the church to the top and back.
Kevin was tested by second place visitor from Tynedale Harriers, Marcus Byron and a notably excellent third placing from Mick Burke, a Sourton resident. He completed in just short of 12 minutes and must be a favourite for the future.
The performance of the day though must be credited to Folly Gate?s Jess Trerise who set a new female record of 14 mins 30 secs.
Thanks went to Roger Alford for marshalling and to Anne Knight for time checking and Geraldine Dury for donating prizes and help with the village hall. Fiona McFee won a bottle of wine for being closest to guessing the winner?s time.
