TAVISTOCK Comm-unity Football Club welcomed one of its own this week to join its coaching staff when a special disability footbalerl qualified as a coach.

The club is delighted to congratulate Bobby Upham, aged 20, who has attained his level one football coaching certificate last week. Not only is Bobby a committed gifted footballer, he can now help out with any coaching for the Tavvy Specials when called upon.

Chairperson Sue Hammond said that she and all the committee, who funded his course, are 'very proud of him. It shows what the community football club are all about.'

Bobby and his partner Holly train with TCFC specials under the eagle eye of head coach Will Reed every Friday at 6pm on the College all weather pitch. Trained level one and disability coaches are present to ensure a thoroughly fun time for all ages.

It was a double celebration for the club because along with Bobby's achievement the Tavvy Specials earned £5,000 for the football squad from Aiming High for Disabled Children.

This money will help fund equipment for increasing the Disability teams and open the doors to more disabled footballers.

Allen Lewis, on behalf of the club, said: 'We are also going to plan a trip to Wembley where we can give the members a real treat and a life changing experience!

Funded by TCFC and sponsored by Tavistock Tyres our very own Bobby Upham becoming a football coach to the Tavvy Specials is superb for him and for the squad.

'This is really something to celebrate and takes what we are doing to another level by giving a young man with learning disabilities a life changing opportunity.

'To have Bobby coaching our three teams along with Will and Tom Reed, Rachel, Robyn and Wayne, we are set up for the New Year to take the Tavistock Specials to an even better place.

'Starting the disabilty squad is the best thing we could have done and I am so proud of all the helpers at our sessions and now we are really making a difference to the Tavistock community. This good news is something to be celebrated!'
