FOR the first time ever the two excellent bands, The Bucket Boys and Out to Grass, will be performing on the same night at The Wharf in Tavistock on Saturday.
The Bucket Boys are Tim Renwick, Willie Wilson, Steve Turner and Rick Worthy, and they play their own brand of Blues, R'n'Bebop and Rural Swing.
Tim Renwick and Willie Wilson were both members of Quiver, later to join forces with the Sutherland Brothers, recording the hit single 'Lying in the arms of Mary'. They both went on to play with Pink Floyd.
Tim has also played with some of the great names of music such as Eric Clapton, Elton John, Rod Stewart, The Bee Gees, David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Little Richard.
Steve Turner on guitar has featured with Kirsty Macoll, Ralph McTell, Kneehigh Theatre and Ricky's Red Rockers. He is a celebrated slide and steel player.
Rick Worthy has worked a lot in theatre with Footsbarn and at The Theatre Royal and The Barbican as an actor, singer and director.
He is a founder member of Charlie and the Wideboys and Ricky's Red Rockers and is now singer with The Bucket Boys.
This quartet, formed three years ago, has been successfully appearing at Plymouth's Jazz Café, The Hall for Cornwall and The Eden Project in recent months and have their second CD 'Waxahotty' ready for release in June.
Out to Grass are six good ol' boys who really should have retired gracefully but they just won't stop playing.
Westcountry audiences just can't get enough of their fresh and innovative blend of bluegrass, country, soul and standards all performed with an energy you wouldn't expect from a boy band a third their age!
Maybe it's Pete Orgill's superb fiddle and mandolin playing or Mark Hughes' mountain banjo combined with the ethereal sound of Mike Barnshaw's resophonic guitar.
All this coupled with the driving rhythm section of Colin Boyd on bass, Ronnie Cox on guitar and leading man Jimmy Bond on guitar and vocals, who fronts these old reprobates in a most disarmingly modern manner, has left audiences screaming for more!
