HORRABRIDGE residents are being reminded of the drop-in meetings being held in the village hall every Thursday. The 'Drop-Inn' is run by volunteers from Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS), a locally based charity set up to help the elderly, people with mobility problems and the socially isolated who live in Tavistock and the surrounding villages. At the centre, participants can 'drop in' between 10am to 1.30pm for a cup of tea and a chat, or stay all morning and take in a light lunch as well. Bryan Podmore, 'Drop Inn' co-ordinator, said: 'We have a small shopping area with clothes for sale, as well as a book and jigsaw lending library. 'TASS will also supply, either directly or through one of our partner organisations, advice on financial and pension matters, housing, care and repair facilities, hospital transport, free bus travel, and a host of other matters. 'Through TASS we organise very popular trips through the spring, summer and autumn months to a variety of locations when we try to cater for all likes and dislikes as well as all levels of mobility. 'All of our mini-buses are wheelchair friendly.' Horrabridge is just one of nine outreach centres operated by TASS, making a difference to older people in rural areas.
