OKEHAMPTON police are asking people to keep their dogs under better control after two incidents of dogs attacking people in Simmons Park recently.

PCSO Glen Warters said in one incident a dog had bitten someone's trousers: 'People should keep their dogs on leads in the park.

'If they cannot keep them under better control we can enforce the Dangerous Dog Act and have dogs removed from their owners or ultimately put down.'

He said dog owners would be spoken to in the first instance but if their animals were a constant threat to the public the police would take action.
