AN all-new radio station for the Bere Peninsula looks set to get off the ground and onto the air waves after receiving a carnival cash boost.

Bere Alston carnival committee presented a cheque for £100 to Peninsula Radio's budding DJs Dan Walker, Louis Ormston and Alex Worrall at a special ceremony last week.

Beryl Mills, chair of the carnival committee, said: 'It is good to see young people trying to make a go of things and all of the committee wanted to help them achieve their goal.

'We hope to continue our support by providing equipment as and when it is needed.'

The musical trio heading Peninsula Radio believe they have found a suitable site for the mast, so lack of funding is currently their only obstacle to a packed programme of tunes and chat.

The wireless wonders will provide commentary at Bere Alston carnival on Saturday, May 1 and everyone is welcome to come along for a day of mayhem and merriment.
