WE would like to explain to the drivers of Tavistock who have found the recent traffic disruption in the Whitchurch Road and Pixon Lane annoying, that there was a very good reason for it. At our request (Tavistock Access Group) one of the things being carried out was the widening of the narrow pavement underneath the bridge in Pixon Lane, to allow a safe passageway for mobility scooters, wheelchairs and parents with larger pushchairs. Up to now they have had to go in the road, which I know from personal experience to be a rather scary procedure.
