Tamwed, the charity set up to link West Devon with an area of Tamil Nadu in India that was affected by the tsunami, has a display at the Market Café in Tavistock to mark Fairtrade Fortnight. On sale will be traditional hand-decorated material produced by women to raise money for health and other projects in India. Food Dreckly, which runs the café next to the cattle market, is asking customers to consider donating to projects in India while enjoying fresh, local food. Tamwed has recently been awarded a grant by the Lottery to research and plan a major programme that would benefit some of the poorest people in rural India.
