A PACKED programme of activities has been planned for a West Devon group researching Dartmoor?s tin mining heritage. The Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group (DTRG) recently held its annual meeting at Clearbrook when more than 30 members followed up the meeting with an afternoon spent exploring Yeoland mines ? 19th century workings to be found around the village. Conservation working parties have been held in the area, ongoing workshops have been established to explore the use of hand-held global positioning systems in survey work and training days are due to take place in the coming weeks. In addition there will be a mineral recognition seminar, a visit to workings at West Penwith, recording of tinners? huts and buildings on the moor and some guided walks. New members are welcome to join the group ? no expertise is necessary as training is provided. For more information, visit the DTRG website at http://www.dtrg.freeserve.co.uk">www.dtrg.freeserve.co.uk
