WINNERS of Tavistock Chamber of Commerce annual floral competition were presented with their trophies at the Bedford Hotel last week.
The Chamber believes the regular production of high quality flower presentations seriously improves Tavistock's image in the eyes of visitors.
This year's judges were Cllr Norma Woodcock, mayor of Tavistock, Jenny McDowell, retailers' representative, Janet Nowell, Lions club representative and Neil Woolcock, president of the Chamber.
The judges particularly praised the high quality of gardens and displays on the routes into town.
Winner of the best display on frontages, baskets, tubs and planters was Dartmoor Photographic of Brook Street.
Best group display including small enclosure, mini garden or set pieces was won by the Blacksmiths Arms at Lamerton.
Best use of available space was won by Tavistock Gas and Stove Centre, while the best shop window display trophy went to Kilworthy Kapers.
A new prize was donated to Tavistock Primary School for their efforts in improving the school grounds using recyclable materials and plants.
The mayor, Cllr Woodcock, donated the award and has already presented it to the school.
