A HAMPER of Dartmoor produce and postcards was delivered to 10 Downing Street yesterday (Wednesday) morning by a delegation of tourism and Dartmoor National Park representatives.

The hamper, designed to highlight the fact that the moor is open for businesses following the foot and mouth crisis, was received by Tourism Minister Kim Howells.

In addition, every MP in the House of Commons has received a personal invitation to come and stay on Dartmoor.

Adam Southwell, of Prince Hall Hotel near Princetown, was part of the delegation.

He said: 'It was very successful. We got some coverage and some promotion and that's what it's all about. It's about getting the word out that the area is open — a good day, hopefully.'

West Devon and Torridge MP John Burnett, who accompanied the delegation, said: 'I told Kim Howells to tell the world we are open for business and that people can come down here and have the most fantastic holiday.'
