TAVISTOCK-based SJS Dance Academy recently staged its Ninth Day of Dance at the College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth in aid of the Children's Hospice South West.

All the students took part in the show from the three-year-olds up to the adult tappers, raising £2,475 for the charity.

Principal of SJS Suzanne Sanders said: 'The students look forward greatly to the bi-annual shows.

'It is their chance to showcase their skills as performers and as dancers. The academy also encourages students to develop their skills as choreographers and this year several of the dances were choreographed by the students themselves.

'My students are very proud of the fact that due to their efforts we have raised £2,475 this year. I am very grateful to all students and their families past and present for their continued support which means that over the past 18 years the academy has raised over £12,000 for the Children's Hospice South West.'

Representative from the Children's Hospice, Judy Pride, who attended the show, said: 'The continued support from the school is really special as it means we are able to provide for children and their families who would never be able to take part in dance.

'The show was so full of fun and life and is exactly what we help our families to experience. I can't thank the dancers and Suzanne Sanders enough for the work that went into such a great show.'
