NEXT week is National Transplant Week and to highlight the importance of carrying a donor card, a special cycle ride has been organised along West Devon?s new Granite Way this weekend.
The fun cycle ride has been organised by Wendy Sincock of Spreyton, an active campaigner for the Organ Donor Register.
Wendy said: ?I am a kidney transplant patient now of four years, eight months. Without my transplant, my life would still be on hold.?
Since her operation, Wendy is able to live a normal life and is fit and well.
She said the cycle ride will leave Okehampton Youth Hostel at 1.45pm this Saturday, July 5.
?We will cycle seven miles to Lydford, stop at the Castle Inn and have eats and liquid refreshments, then cycle back ? a round trip of approximately 14 miles.
?Myself, my husband John and other transplantees have done this to see what the route is like and it?s very pleasant,? said Wendy, who hoped lots of people would join in the ride.
Free T-shirts will be available to those joining the cycle ? anyone who would like to join in should call Wendy on 01647 231597.
