FARMER John Dawe, vice-chairman of Devon County NFU, received cash totalling £160.95 for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

The presentation followed donations by customers at the Safeway, Tavistock, lottery counter.

With Mr Dawe are Safeway staff Di Allen and Jenny Hutchinson.

The RABI charity, formed in 1860, gives help to retired and disabled members of the agricultural community and since the foot and mouth crisis has paid out approximately £8-million in assistance to 8,000 families — £1.2-million has been paid in Devon alone.
