THIRTEEN girls and boys from the 1st Whitchurch Cub Scouts organised an entire event as part of their Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) Cub Scouts badge.

The youngsters, aged between eight and ten and a half years old, organised Whitchurch Charity Fair which will be held this Saturday (April 12), from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

Included in the fair will be a bric-a-brac table, cake stall, silent auction and a variety of other stands in Whitchurch Village Hall.

Akela Sue Miller, who has just become one of DAAT's volunteer receptionists and whose mum was airlifted by the air ambulance, is thrilled with the efforts of her cubs.

She said: 'I am terribly proud of all of them.  They have worked hard and contributed so much.

'They certainly did more than just their best, they really excelled.'

DAAT's fundraising director Caroline Creer said: 'The Whitchurch Cubs have done a fantastic job organising this event, including deciding who is doing what job and even putting together their own risk assessment.

'Locally organised events of this sort are part of DAAT's DNA.

'They secure a very special relationship with the community we serve and I'd like to think that these brilliant boys and girls will remember their achievements for the rest of their lives and continue to spread the word about their air ambulance.'

Their superb effort has been supported by a number of local Businesses, including Venus Nails and Beauty, Tavistock Specsavers, I Love Candy, Grassy Made and Abbey Mead Dental Surgery.
