FIREFIGHTERS tackled a barn fire just outside North Tawton on Saturday morning.

Crews from North Tawton and Okehampton and the water foam carrier from Exeter attended the incident at a farm at Week at 6.20am, where a 40m by 15m barn containing hay bales was well alight.

Four breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a main jet and a water shuttle were used to put the fire out and the farmer assisted with removing the hay bales with a tractor. Forty per cent of the contents of the barn was severely damaged.
