THE letter by Mr R A Neon Reynolds (Okehampton Times, December 15) states it was an important omission on my part not to name our local MPs in my letter a week earlier.

I gave your readers credit for realising that my reference to the MPs known by the whips' office as the 'Payroll Vote' was directed at our two local MPs for their failure to vote in favour of a referendum in the debate on October 24, when they would have been fully aware that a large majority of constituents would have wanted them to vote in favour of a referendum.

I appreciate the problem the writer will have when we next get the opportunity to express our views via the ballot box, but I cannot imagine that it will be so disastrous as to vote Labour!

Due to the 'wasted vote' syndrome UKIP will probably once again get only limited support, but I think much credit is due to their leader Nigel Farage MEP who, despite his serious air crash during his anti-Lisbon treaty campaign, has continued to work ceaselessly to highlight the urgency to take back control of our country from the EU.
