A BRIGHT idea from children on the Okehampton Primary School Council has resulted in their playground looking more vibrant. Children from the school council wanted to improve the playground environment, so decided to write a letter to kite manufacturers Brookite in Okehampton for any scrap bits of nylon material. They received a vast quantity of material, from which they have made a sun, rainbow, ladybird and flowers by weaving the threads of nylon through the school fences. The council meets on a weekly basis at the school with Year 5 teachers Helen Day and Rhonda Willingham. Mrs Day said: 'It has been a real success and the children really enjoyed doing it. We have received a lot of compliments from people and the children are really proud of their work.'
