THERE'S an opportunity to enjoy a delicious cream tea and raise money for a very good cause in Whitchurch this month.
The Tavistock Friends Group of Children's Hospice South West are urging as many people as possible to the event at Whitchurch Village Hall from 2 to 4 pm on Friday September 19. The tea is being held during Children's Hospice Week and is part of the Precious Lives Appeal for a third hospice serving West Devon, Plymouth and the whole of Cornwall.
The members of the Tavistock group of Friends will be welcoming the mayor of West Devon, Cllr Terry Pearce and his wife June, and also the mayor of Tavistock, Cllr Robin Pike and his wife Diana to the cream tea.
They will also be joined by children and staff from The Old School, Whitchurch at 3 pm.
A spokesman for the Friends group said: 'The children will bring along their poorly teddies or cuddly toys together with their paintings of them. This is to help show the children that even when children may be seriously ill, there are very kind people to help their families to love and look after them.'
The cream teas cost just £2.50 (children admitted free). There will be stalls and a raffle with a super large cuddly teddy as one of the prizes.
