A WONDERFUL week full of crafty capers will be taking place in West Devon next week.
Sticklepath Fireshow will once again be hosting the popular Crafty Capers summer workshops and show. The event allows people to try their hands at puppet and costume making the 'Fireshow Way' with a chance at the end of the week to model and exhibit their own creations.
Artistic director of the Fireshow, Hilary Gillespie, said: 'This is an ideal opportunity for people of all ages to come together and let their minds run away with them, creating beautiful, wacky or amusing outfits, puppets, paintings, masks and models.
'We have found that younger children who have attended Crafty Capers are already quite skilled in the techniques we use in the production of the main Fireshow when they can first come along to the autumn workshops at the age of 10.
'At these workshops the children have to focus on the constructions used for the coming year's Fireshow, albeit with some individual interpretation encouraged, but in August they can choose whatever it is they'd like to make, but all with expert help on hand.
'There will be many other creative challenges to try throughout the week. Whether you're old or young, a family group or on your own, you can come along, be it for one session, several, or indeed the whole week; we'd love to see you!'
Hilary added that inspiration and artistic flair were not the main requirement for participating in Crafty Capers — most important was a sense of fun.
The workshops will be held in marquees on Finch Foundry field in Sticklepath, from Monday, August 18 through to Friday, August 22.
Daily session run from 10am until 12.30pm and 1.30pm until 4pm, at a cost of £2 per person, per session.
Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult and those aged 10 and over must either have a parent or guardian present at their first session to fill out a registration form, or can get their parent or guardian to complete the form in advance.
The final Crafty Capers show, where the weird and wonderful creations will be on display, takes place on Saturday, August 23.
