Salcombe Ladies 0

Tavistock Ladies 2nd XI 1

THIS was Tavistock?s first league game against Salcombe this season and they had a disadvantage before it started, as it was a grass pitch. Tavistock had first push back and the game was slow to start.

The midfield of Joanne Solman, Sarah Court, Nicky Hawkins and Kate Eadie battled for the ball, pushing it up to the forwards.

Salcombe took possession in the first 15 minutes. Tavistock?s defence of Nell Trotter, Sarah Guy and Amy Petts worked together to keep the ball out of the D and not to put pressure on goalkeeper Zoë Viggers.

Tavistock managed to get a break through Salcombe?s midfield, with Robynne Honey driving the ball up the wing with the support of Nicky Hawkins and the midfield, but there just was not a Tavistock player around to put it in the back of the net.

Tavistock had more control of the ball in the second half and passed it around in midfield. Kate Eadie and Jill Court worked well in making space up the right wing.

Tavistock had a bit of an advantage this half as the pitch was sloping downwards for them and this gave Sarah Barrett the extra energy to drive the ball down the wing and cross it in. Jill Court was right on the end of it and in one quick swoop the ball was in the goal.

Player of match: Amy Petts.
