A CASH boost from a Devon County Councillor has helped a West Devon charity to improve communication.
Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS) was thrilled to receive support from councillor Debo Sellis' Locality Budget, in the form of a grant for £970 to help buy two new laptops for the centre, supporting the management and outreach of TASS.
Judi Thornberry, TASS outreach worker, said: 'These computers will help us take information and advice out to people living in isolation, showing them what they are entitled to in the way of services and support.
'As we are all well aware, information these days is found on the internet and the availability of up to date equipment will allow us to be able to take the information to a person's home.'
Cllr Sellis said: 'TASS is a wonderful local charity, supporting older people in our local community. I am pleased that I am able to support TASS in providing equipment that can be used for taking information out into the community.'
Andy Lyle, manager of TASS, said: 'We are now able to communicate with other agencies, making sure that clients are able to find out about what is happening locally and activities that could make a difference to people's lives. Grants like these make a huge difference to small local charities such as ours.'
