SWIFT action by South Tawton Parish Council has been taken in an attempt to resolve parking problems in the village. A particular problem was identified at the bottom of the village where drivers had noted that parallel parking could have potentially led to a serious accident. Chairman Andrew White said the council?s highlighting of the issue seemed to have worked well in getting people to park more safely. He said: 'We are trying to work with everyone. We need to look at the parking issue within the whole parish. It is something we will be looking into over the next few months.? Mr White said ideas for tack ling other parking hotspots in the parish would be examined at future meetings, but he ruled out one option. ?We don?t want to blight the village with yellow lines everywhere,? he said. Other areas of the village where parking is a concern include by the village shop, in the Shelley area close to a lane junction and a dangerous bend and near the Kings Arms. Villagers say the problems are often at their worst when parents are bringing or children to school or collecting them.
