THE NHS has invited organisations to submit expressions of interest if they feel they could provide a service from the Moretonhampstead Hospital Health and Social Care Hub. Over the past six months the NHS has been working in partnership with members of the local community to create a task group to develop a new model of care for the people of Moretonhampstead, including a health and social care hub at the hospital. The group is now calling on local people and organisations to get in touch by October 10 if they would like to run a service from the hub. Dr Alex Degan, a GP from Mid Devon and vice chair of the Mid Devon Sub-Locality of Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group, said: 'We would be very pleased to hear from anyone who is interested in running a health or social care service from the hub that benefits the local community and surrounding area. 'We have listened to local clinicians, organisations and members of the public and have thought of some ideas for services from the NHS and from other partners, including the voluntary and private sector, which could be run from the hub. 'Some examples of services that could be included are respite for carers, support for people to maintain their independence and dignity, counselling and drug and alcohol awareness, informal social network cafés for peer support, dental services, eye care, end of life support, mother and toddler groups, and voluntary sector services. 'But we are open to suggestions and if you feel you are able to provide a service, please let us know.' To express an interest in providing a service at the Moretonhampstead Hospital Health and Social Care Hub, you can email [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01392 356 129. Alternatively you could write to Nicola Webber, NEW Devon CCG Eastern Locality, Newcourt House, Old Rydon Lane, Exeter, EX2 7JU. The deadline for submissions is October 10.
