A FORMER pupil of Tavistock Grammar School is looking to get in touch with an old classmate — who now lives in Okehampton.

Alick Lavers, who now lives in Torquay, is looking to get in touch with Trevor James, who he believes now lives in Okehampton. They attended school together from 1945 to 1950, and Alick is looking to find Trevor to get back in touch.

Mr Lavers said: 'Trevor James has written a first-class book, which details life during World War Two and our school years so very well, as well as outlining his own life after our school time.  It took me back in time in an instant!

'We are both the same age and we were both in the same year at Tavistock Grammar School.  Trevor has written of our classmates as if it were yesterday, although it was seventy years ago, and he has remembered a lot of names, including mine, and many details of our school life.  I would love to be able to correspond with him and perhaps fill in some of the gaps.

'Trevor joined the Merchant Navy while I joined the Royal Navy and we never met up again.

'Trevor's eightieth birthday was on October 1, while mine is later this month.  I have recently attended the funeral of another of our classmates and I am aware that time is ticking over for both of us.'
