THE kitchen at Tavistock's Parish Centre has undergone a complete make-over thanks to the Friends of St Eustachius' and generous public donations.
The kitchen has been refurbished and updated with new appliances, units, work-tops and flooring.
Cathy Sherlock from the Parish Centre is thrilled with the kitchen's new look: 'The kitchen was totally ripped out and the refurbishment has really brought it into the 21st century — it was a bit archaic before.
'We have had completely new flooring and units and we've had a window put in so we can actually see out now. It was very dark before but now its light and airy.
'Everyone has commented how great it looks now.'
Cathy said the new kitchen would benefit the centre: 'We'll be able to cook better meals now and hopefully we will be able to increase the revenue by letting out the centre.'
The total cost of the refurbishment was more than £7,000, more than half of which was funded by the Friends of St Eustachius. The rest of the money was from donations.
The new kitchen was used for the first time last week. 'It was suitably christened with the church choir's annual dinner, cooked and served by the church-warden and his son-in-law.'
