THE second week of the Bill Fogerty Trophy in the Okehampton and district table tennis league saw North Wyke win at home to Okehampton B.

North Wyke raced into a 4-0 lead in the first game. Ishaq narrowly beat Dick Randell 20-22, 21-10, 21-12. Tom Misselbrook won in straight sets against Harry Bryant and Paulo Damont beat Keeran Coyle. Also in straight sets Tom went on to complete a fine maximum as did Paulo. Keeran saved the white wash when he beat Ishaq 21-9, 17-21, 22-24. North Wyke won 8-1.

The next was a hard fought win for Tavistock against the mixtures (Okehampton). Fred Phillips beat Sarah Jackson in the first. Peter Hicks lost to Steve Tylor, 21-16, 19-21, 17-21. Steve went on to beat Both Roger Bowkett and Fred Phillips to complete a fine maximum. A rare event against Tavistock. Tavistock went to win the match 6-3.

The match awarded Okehampton A against Moretonhampstead who could only side two players.

The Bill Fogerty consolation started the week with the two new teams Horrabridge against Milton Abbot B. Milton Abbot could only had to forfeit three games. In the first Ben Evans beat Petro Coleman 22-24, 18-21. Then Ron Evans beat Amy Coleman in straight sets, 2-0, to Milton Abbot. Ben won the next against Amy and Rob beat Lesley Comeman in the next Lesley took Ben all the way winning 12-21, 21-18-12-21, Ron beat peter in the last singles for a 3-6 win for Milton Abbot.

In the next Okehampton C were at home to Anchorage. Despite Anchorage winning the first Dave Wilson beat Martin Rose in straight sets Rob Evans beat Amy Coleman to put Anchorage 2-0 ahead Frank Cockburn beat Jenny Gilbert to pull one back for Okehampton Dave Wilson beat Ivor Coles 3-1 to Anchorage. Okehampton then stepped up a gear winning the next four, to go 5-3 ahead. Malcolm Hopkins won the last singles against Martin Okehampton won a close match 5-4. Frank scoring a fine maximum.
