Okeford Veterinary Centre will be holding their popular, fun family dog show event in Simmons Park, Okehampton on Sunday (June 22).
The first class starts at 10am.
There are nine classes to choose from to suit all the family, with the day rounding off with the best in show class.
This year, there is a very special guest judge in the form of local veterinary surgeon and author, Cathy Woodman.
There are rosettes available for each class from 1st – 6th.
Alongside the main dog show event there is a range of stalls from local businesses, food stands and an ice cream van.
During the half-time break, qualified dog trainer, Liz Halsall, from Woodhead Woofers is running an “ask the trainer and training tips”.
As in previous years, the dog show is run in aid of a charity. This year's chosen charity is Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. This wonderful charity supports people with hearing loss by training dogs to support them in a range of tasks. From recognising and alerting owners to life-saving sounds, such as fire alarms, to alerting their owners to the doorbell, these wonderful dogs help their owners in all aspects of daily life.
Since the charity started in 1982, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have created 2876 partnerships and currently have 1019 dogs helping deaf people. There are currently 450 puppies in training to support deaf people, meaning supporting this charity is more vital than ever.
More information on this brilliant charity can be found at www.hearingdogs.org.uk
Parking for the show is available in the Simmons Park car park. No cars (other than organiser/stalls) will be permitted on the grass. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and we ask that owners ensure they clean up after their dogs. Water for dogs will be available throughout the day.
We look forward to welcoming you and your canine companions to our dog show on Sunday 22nd June – it is set to be a fun day for all the family!
