A STOKE Climsland man, who at each Remembrance service since 1964 has read out the names of local men who lost their lives, received a special award from the Royal British Legion on Sunday.

Edwin Wills received the award for outstanding service to the community. It was presented to him at the Remembrance service at the parish church where he read out the names for the 40th time.

Preacher Howard Curnow reminded the congregation that across the two great wars there was barely a family that was not touched by some tragedy.

He said: ?But for many of us now, those names read out so well by Edwin, are just that, names without faces and without memories for us personally.

?However, we do need to reflect upon the past in order to guide us in our future. We each need to examine our hearts to decide what God wants for us in the future ? and throughout the year to show our gratitude to those who died by cherishing the freedom they have given to us.?
