IN LESS than a month, the people of Tavistock and its surrounding area have donated over £2,600 to support research into the causes and treatment of cancer.
This is an amazing result and one that greatly encourages the local Cancer Research Campaign committee.
The generosity of some local people made standing in the street holding collecting tins for hours at a time almost enjoyable! Special thanks go to the management and staff of Safeway for their assistance during our appeals week.
The appreciative audience at the Wharf when the Polperro Fisherman's Choir entertained us so well was an entirely enjoyable experience.
Many of your readers are wearing the Pink Ribbon during Breast Cancer Awareness month. Perhaps the colour pink is more attractive to ladies, but unfortunately, men can also suffer from this form of the disease and we need their support to research for a cure.
So come on, chaps, buy a pink ribbon and donate it to your favourite girl!
Thanks to all who have supported us.

MAY I thank the shoppers at Safeway Stores, Tavistock, for generously donating £94.82 to the Children's Hospice South West when my friend Julie on violin and myself on piano accordion played there.
Thanks also to Safeway management for permission to do it.

MAY I through your newspaper extend grateful thanks to Mrs Mary Tomes and all those who kindly sponsored her in her recent sponsored tandem parachute jump.
Mary has kindly donated £345 to Tavistock and district Mencap Society to be used locally and a similar amount has been sent to National Mencap. A wonderful effort — thank you to Mary and friends.
