THERE is still time for the fit and not quite so fit to take part in one of the most scenic running events to be held in Devon, which takes place this Sunday at Okehampton.
The Oke Croak Run, organised by the North Moor section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group, is a fun and challenging ten-mile run among beautiful countryside.
The course follows footpaths onto the moor from Simmons Park; the runners then find their own way to Yes Tor, Oke Tor before heading back to Okehampton.
The terrain can be rough and boggy in places and navigational skills can be required in bad weather, so runners will need a map, compass and suitable clothing for the conditions on the day.
Changing facilities, toilets and a bar will be available at Simmons Park, courtesy of the football club.
Paul Bartlett, spokesman for Dartmoor Rescue Group, said: ?We would like to see a lot of local people taking part this year.
?You don?t have to be a fast runner to enter ? just getting round the course is an achievement to be proud of, and there is always a fantastic, friendly atmosphere.
?The only requirement is to be able to use a map and compass, in case of bad weather.?
The rescue group will be providing checkpoints, marshals and first aid support ? there will be a momento for all finishers, with prizes for the first male and female home and the first male and female veteran.
The entry fee is £6 in advance, £8 on the day, with all proceeds going to Dartmoor Rescue Group.
The race starts at noon on Sunday June 27.
