ENTHUSIASTIC singers are being sought to take part in Tavistock's first flash choir.
As part of the Tavistock Edge experience in July, a flash choir is planned — aimed at pulling together up to 200 enthusiastic singers to surprise shoppers and visitors in the town with an impromptu performance before quietly melting away into the crowd.
Tavistock Edge is a fringe look at the arts with free, community-based events taking place in informal settings around the town from Saturday, July 11 to Saturday, July 18.
Rob Shepherd and Hilli Mole, the choir leaders for the Edge event, said that several local choirs and their members were already committed to taking part.
Rob said: 'We have chosen two songs which we know will sound great sung by a flash choir. We are very keen to encourage people to join what we know will be a memorable and fun event.'
No previous singing experience is necessary. If you are interested contact Tavistock edge through its website http://www.tavistockedge.org.uk">www.tavistockedge.org.uk or call 01822 616389. Rehearsals for learning the music are planned to start in May.
The flash choir is one of a large number of exciting, different and sometimes surprising events and art installations that will be happening during the Lion's Tavistock Carnival Week, July 11 to 18.
