The visitors' pack had the edge in size and strength but the Teignmouth threes were a threat every time they had the ball. Hooker Kerswill for Tavistock took four strikes against the head and scrum half Smith disrupted the opposition ball from the set scrum many times, deserving his man of the match award after a strong all round game. Two home side tries in the first half were answered by a penalty slotted by fly half Smerdon. Tavistock were in the game until they ran out of steam in the final 15 minutes when the Teignmouth threes ran in several tries for a final score which flattered the home side. Several good line breaks by Tavistock's Hodges, Webber and Shutler were well supported by the back row of Chinn, Friend and Thomas.
