SPORTY Tavistock College staff are gearing up for their next challenge after completing the Plymouth Half Marathon.
Cover supervisor Rachel Martin raised £115 for the kidney unit at Derriford Hospital having successfully shaved half an hour off her previous time.
She said: 'I wanted to beat last year's time of 2 hours 31 minutes and I did it in 2 hours 1 minute.
'It was good for the first 11 miles but the final two were very difficult so I was really chuffed to beat my time by half an hour. The atmosphere was amazing – nearly 5,000 people took part.'
Rachael's success has inspired her to take up next year's Three Peaks Challenge – climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
Staff Phil Ruse, Paul Maddaford and Stuart Hearne all completed the 13 miles of the Plymouth half marathon in less than two hours, with Rebecca Millidge taking 2hrs 2mins and Ewan Miller 2hrs 8mins while running as a pacemaker.
Ewan is also in training for two triathlons and the Dartmoor Classic Bike Race and completed his first marathon at Easter with a time of 4hrs 7mins.
Paul said: 'This was the second half marathon I have run after completing last year's Plymouth Half Marathon for charity. I'm not sure which I'll run next but I prefer 10 kilometre races.'
